Position Summary
The primary responsibilities of the Sales Associate position are to maintain outstanding customer service, generate sales, merchandise product, and support the store management team.
Major Responsibilities
The major responsibilities for this position include:
- Ensure each customer receives outstanding service which follows the S.A.L.E.S process and by mystery shop standards
- Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements.
- Execute the daily operational, day-to-day goals and priorities assigned by store management
- Assist in the training and development of peers
- Uphold merchandising and store cleanliness standards
- Participate in the processing of new shipments and help the team to keep the receiving and back stock area clean and organized
- Responsive of safety issues
- Conscious of shoplifting activity
- Aid customers in locating merchandising in store, on acehardware.com, as well as, processing special orders
- Solicit customers to open an Ace Rewards card
- Answer customers’ questions and provide information on procedures and policies
Minimum Requirements
The minimum requirements for this position include:
- Education/Training: High School degree, some college preferred. Some product knowledge of hardware, plumbing and electrical along with a willingness to learn.
- Skills/Knowledge: Knowledge of retail computer systems, MS Word and Excel a plus.

Position Summary
Store Managers are responsible for the complete day-to-day operation of the store. They are responsible for maximizing store sales and profitability, along with managing expenses while ensuring that the store is optimally stocked and merchandised and that all customers are provided with excellent customer service. A store manager contributes to the growth and development of the management team and store associates.
Major Responsibilities
The major responsibilities for this position include:
- Drive store sales by ensuring that all customers are acknowledged, customer projects needs are met, and concerns are resolved quickly
- Hire, train and develop retail staff with goals for growth and success in their positions, provide performance feedback and recognize accomplishments
- Coordinate the overall supervision of retail staff to ensure sales performance goals are met and procedures are followed accurately
- Regulate retail inventory to reduce shrinkage, maintain appropriate stock levels and ensure report accuracy
- Direct the shipping, receiving and inventory flow for the store
- Forecast scheduling needs to meet customer demand and create work schedules
- Delegate daily workload among associates to meet merchandising and visual presentation standards
- Enforces safety policies and procedures; is a safety role model
Minimum Requirements
The minimum requirements for this position include the following:
- Education/Training: High School degree, some college preferred. Posses a vast product knowledge of hardware related products along with a willingness to learn
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years retail management experience
- Skills/Knowledge: Strong leadership and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in all situations
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks with a high attention to detail

THE POSITION: Showroom Design and Color Consultant
- Assist customers with their color and design needs.
- Computer skills are needed for CMS (CUSTOMER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM)
- Communicate with vendors and sales reps
- Meet sales goals and expectations of customer service levels
- Flexible and can work a schedule that includes weekend hours
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Offer design concepts and knowledge to customers that are working on projects.
- Speak comfortably on the functional and stylistic benefits of each of our custom products
- Run the day-to-day operations managing the showroom
- Support the paint department at the counter when needed.
- Follow companies workflow policies and procedures.
- Maintain a neat, clean updated showroom
- Participate in ongoing product/technology training, as well as monthly business meetings
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Essential Functions of the job:
- Driving a truck or van through the five boroughs, Westchester, Putnam and Rochester counties
- Pre-load van with deliveries
- Pre route deliveries for the day
- Maintain inventory transfer tickets ensuring the accuracy of loaded items
- Ensure truck or van is drivable at all times
- Checking vehicle daily for safety
- Making sure all inspections and insurances are up to date
- Making sure to report any maintenance issues to management.
Secondary Functions of the job:
- Sell paint and paint sundries/accessories at authorized prices
- Instruct customers on the use of paint & paint-related products
- Receives and handles requests from customers and distributors for price quotes, purchase orders, order adjustments, and order cancellations
- Builds rapport with customers and works to ensure they receive excellent service.
- Uses a computer database to retrieve necessary customer information, inventory information and purchase order status
- Provides pricing, delivery and other order information to customers
- Drafts purchase orders and invoices to submit to the accounting department.
- Maintains files of active orders and updates with changes to customer accounts or orders.
- As required, confirms the credit status of a customer with the financial/credit departments
- Handles instance of customer dissatisfaction and specific customer complains reasonably, promptly, and effectively and recommend adjustments to management.
- Stock shelves with appropriate merchandise and maintain a premium store appearance.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Maintain a neat, clean updated paint counter.
Be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
Self Starter, quick learner, team player with strong communication skills
Must be able to answer phones, assist any customers, lift-up to 60lbs, take out the trash, clean where needed, and any other tasks that may need to be complete.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to speak and write English
- Proficient computer skills and ability to learn database and ordering system Have a valid license and clean driving record
Required education and experience:
- 1 Year truck driving route preferred.
- 1 year of retail, customer service
